Unity Church Announcements

Today we embark on the journey to freedom in Christ through our Lenten Series: "Set Free to Be Free".  Brochures from the series were handed out last week.  More are available by the mailslots.

THANK YOU!  From pulling up carpet, to snacks and goodies, to stripping wallpaper, to knocking out walls -- the renovations are underway and a huge THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers that have helped so far!  Your continued help is needed!  Contact the Brouwers if you would like to be involved.

Classis, the regional body of CRC churches, will be held in Alexandria, MN. this week Monday and Tuesday.  Pastor Steve & Elder Larry Groen will be attending as delegates.

Prayer Ministry

At the conclusion of our worship time each week people will be available to pray with you about any item of concern to you.

Building Update

The exterior brickwork on the building project has now been completed.  The brick will be cleaned and the stucco work above the brick will be done when the weather warms up.  The contractor is now working on the entrances and interior work has been progressing nicely. The auditorium has now been measured for pews and tentative installation is mid-May.  Our volunteers are busy working on the opening between the present auditorium and social hall.  They soon will be laying the tiles in the kitchen and serving bar area, taping drywall, and painting.  We have raised about half the funds we need for the renovations and changes in our old structure.  Additional gifts to the Building Fund would be very much appreciated at this time as we work toward reaching our goal!

Upcoming Helping Hands Mission Trip

Duane Bonnema is organizing a group of adult leaders along with volunteer Junior and Senior high school students to lend a helping hand to the 2008 flood victims in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  This group will be leaving Monday, April 6, 2009, at 5:00 am, and returning Saturday, April 11 in the evening.  We are in need of more adult leaders, especially those with skills in carpentry, sheet rocking, shingling, and wiring.  If you are unable to join us on this trip, but are willing to help, you can be a part of this ministry by:  supplying tools, donating your van for a week, supplying food (snacks for the trip and/or non-perishable items for meals when we're there), and supporting us financially.  Most of all, your continued prayers and support are coveted as we prepare, Lord willing, to lend a helping hand to those in need.  If you have any questions or can help in any way, please contact:  Duane Bonnema or Andy Ypma.

Please mail donations to:

1 John 3:16 - 18

"This is how we know what love is:  Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.  If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?  Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."
