Welcome to    today's corporate worship celebration here at Unity! Be blessed!

 

We would like to welcome Carol Veldman Rudie who will be our guest speaker this morning. Carol brings 25 years of Coffee Break leadership and Bible study into her desire to be licensed to exhort in Classis Lake Superior (CLS). Her message today is part of the licensure process that Unity has been asked to be a part of by CLS. She has written Discover Your Bible's leaders guides and study materials for Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, Acts, and Luke and contributed articles to The Banner as its social justice editor.  She has a PhD in English literature and has taught at Dordt College, Bethel University and at the University of Minnesota.

Open House Bridal Shower: You are invited to an Open House Bridal Shower in honor of Amanda Meyer bride-elect of Joe De Groot. It will be held at Unity CRC, on Tuesday, June 30th at 7:00pm. They are registered at  at Target & Herberger's.

 

Unity's Annual Lake Worship Service: July 5 -  11:00am - Lawn Chairs, BBQ, and Great Worship. Invite all your family and friends to join us.

 

4th Of July Silent Auction: If you would like to donate an item or service to the CMCS 4th of July silent auction, please contact Tracy Brouwer.

 

Newsletter Articles: If you would like to submit an article, recipe, new baby news, Engagement news, Wedding news or anything else you would like in the Unity Update please submit that to the church office by Sunday July 19th!

 

Quick Reminder: Bulletin Announcements are due each Thursday by noon. To make sure your announcement will be in the bulletin please ask for a reply in all emails. If you do not receive a reply by Thursday at noon please call April in the office.

 

Prayer Ministry: At the end of our worship time each week there will be people available to pray with you about any item that you would like to have prayed for.

 

Unity Church Announcements

 

Unity Family Prayer Needs: Hub W is continuing to heal. Lord willing soon he will be able to recuperate at home.  Please remember him and Marilyn, in your prayers as this has stretched out over 2+ weeks now.

 

Solid Rock Youth Fundraiser: On July 11, Willmar Boiler, will be having a public auction. SRYG has been asked by the auctioneer to provide breakfast and lunch for the auction crowd.  We will be serving food all day at the Rock on 8th. A large crowd is anticipated to attend.  

 

Here's what we need:

Baked goods-bars, brownies, cookies.

Hot dog and/or hamburger buns

Cans of Pop (Coke, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew and Sprite) and/or bottled water

Sign up sheets are available in the Fellowship Hall.

 

Students: We anticipate serving from 7:30 in the morning to about 4:30 in the afternoon so it would be great to get enough students to fill in 3-4 hour shifts. Let Kirk know when you can help out.

 

Let Freedom Ring!: Plan to attend the (Unity-sponsored) 4th of July Celebration Service 10:00 a.m. at First CR Church.  There will be inspirational music, lively pipe organ playing (by our own Phil) and a moving speech by Pastor Steve: "Standing in the Gap."Join in to give honor to the Lord and Giver of the freedoms we so cherish!

 

 

2009 Minn-ia-kota: Make plans now to take a break from your normal routine! The Minne-ia-kota Retreat on September 15 and 16, 2009, at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa, is sponsored by bible League Volunteers. If you went last year, you probably received a mailing this week with a special invite for you and a friend. You won't want to miss this excellent time of spiritual renewal! You will experience great music, inspiring speakers, and a wonderful time of fellowship with other Christians at this "retreat with a reason"! While enjoying all of this, you will be able to help provide bibles and study materials for our friends in Africa. Glenna Salsbury, and award winning speaker, will be our featured guest. You don't want to miss her

 

Garage "Salers": If you are a garage saler, or like to scan the Willmar Tribune for "Freebies", keep your eyes peeled for cans of infant formula (check expiry date) and for soccer cleats (all sizes).  Children of the Promise ship both items regularly to Haiti.  If you acquire these items, you could either ship them yourself, or give them to Jan Bonnema or to the church office

 

Gift Registry: Last week you received in your mailslots a "Gift Registry" listing the items we still need, to furnish our new facility. We have received some nice gifts, but still need most of the items.  Please consider giving a gift!  If you misplaced your  Registry list, there are extra copies on top of the mailslots.  Please check your selection on the list and return it with your check to April in the office, Phil's mailslot, or send it  to Unity Church at PO Box 266

 

 

Community Announcements

 

CALVIN COMMEMORATION: The area Reformed and Christian Reformed Churches will join in a combined worship service on July 5 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin.  The guest speaker will be Dr. Joel Nederhood, who was for many years the radio minister of the Back to God Hour.  Dr. Nederhood will speak on the theme: STILL CALVINISTS.  The service will begin at 6:30 PM and will be held at the First CRC of Prinsburg.  A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service.

 

Praise in the Park: A night of music and message featuring Avalon will be held on Friday, July 10 beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Get your tickets now! The cost is $15 for general seating and $20 for preferred. Please call Ivy at Bethany RC (320-847-3322) or Kay at Bunde CRC (320-847-3520) to get your tickets. If you would like to hear some of their music, please go to youtue.com and search Avalon. You wont want to miss this concert. Proceeds will go to Kids Against Hunger.

 

West Central Christian Singles: Saturday, July 12th, meet at the Sibley State Park office at 2:30pm for an afternoon of hiking. Bring a bag lunch/supper and drink of choice for supper. August Schedule to be determined.

 

YATEC: Young Adults Together Encounter Christ (YATEC), an outreach ministry for young adults will be held June 12-14 at First Covenant Church, 801 Willmar Avenue SW, Willmar, MN. YATEC is an intense, event packed, worship filled, life-changing, 3 day retreat which focuses on the life of Christ. It is a weekend for spiritual growth, and for loving and serving others. If you need to be refreshed by the Spirit or you know someone needing to be introduced to Christ, YATEC is a place to do both. For candidate applications, please go to www.yatecmn.org.

 

4th of July Planning: Plans are being made for the 4th of July celebration in Prinsburg. The theme for this year's parade is "Childhood Memories". Memories of lemonade stands, little league, drive-in-restaurants. The possibilities are endless. If you've got an idea for the parade, it doesn't have to be related to the theme, please call us. We'd love to have representatives from the community driving their collector cars or riding horses. We welcome entries, such as area Jr. Miss Royalty or Dairy Princesses. The kiddie parade begins at 6:00pm with the main parade following right behind it. If you have any questions or would like to participate, please contact: Darlene Duininck.

 

One Body In Christ Conference: Register now for the Saturday, August 22nd, Conference to be held in Rock Valley, Iowa, at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church, brochures with a registration form are available in the information rack located in the church library or you can call Pastor Bill Van Dyken 712-476-3136 or email him at bvandyke @hopehaven.org. You can also register online at www.hopehaven.org look under News and Current Events.

Pastor Jim Kok, author of the book: "The Miracle of Kindness: Changing the world one act at a time," will be  our key -note speaker and panel moderator. Jim is the Pastor of Care and Kindness at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove California. Also Pastor Mark Stephenson, Director of Disability concerns will be present and moderator of one of our panel sessions.

There will be three interactive panels focused on Family, Church and Outreach as they relate to disability issues. We encourage Council Members, Pastors, families, those involved in Friendship Ministries and anyone who desire to hear first hand the stories of those who live with disabling conditions and their family members. Bring your questions, this is an interactive conference!

Fireworks Display and Ice Cream Social! Come out and enjoy some ice cream at the Central Minnesota Christian School! Event will begin at 8:00pm.  Fireworks display with music will kick-off the celebration on Friday, July 3rd at 10:00pm. Launch site is North of Unity Christian Reformed Church.  Bring your family for a great time of patriotic    celebration!

 

Saturday, July 4th

8:00am ~ (Registration begins at 7:15am)

            2.5 mile Freedom Fun Walk/Run

            1/2 mile Adam's Race (K - 6th grade)

Get your morning off to a great start. Meet outside the elementary gym to register. Free t-shirt for each finisher. Refreshments at the end of the race! A monetary donation will be made to CMCS for each finisher!

         

10:00am ~ Worship Service

Join us for thanksgiving and praise at First Christian Reformed Church.

 

11:00am - 1:00pm ~ Pork Roast Dinner

Enjoy a great meal while you visit with family and friends. Served in the high school gym. Free-will donation.

Kids test their pedaling strength and endurance on the street west of the high school. Registration at 1:30pm.

 

2:30pm - 5:00pm ~ Trap Shoot

Test your shooting skills on the lawn south of Unity CRC. Trophy's awarded to the best shooters.

 

3:30pm - 5:00pm ~ Horse Rides

Back again by Popular Demand! Horse rides will be available on the lawn east of the high school.

 

6:00pm ~ Kids and Main Parade

Enjoy the floats and fun! Parade starts at 3rd Street and Kandiyohi Ave going South and end at Kandiyohi and Co. Rd 1. Line up begins at 5:30pm by the Funeral home. THEME for this years parade : "Childhood Memories"

 

Following the Parade:

Games will be held for Preschool - 4th grade at the field West of the high school. Concessions will be available
