Welcome to Unity!

“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see!” Our prayer today is for the love and grace of God to enfold you as we worship and to empower you to be agents of grace as you go forth as the body of Christ.

Unity Church Ministry Opportunities

Invitation to Pray
The missions team, and anyone else interested in supporting missions with prayer to go along with their monthly paychecks, is invited to come to Pastor Jeff's office between 9:00 and 9:45am next Sunday. We will have a sheet of recent prayer concerns for each of our missionary families, and we will take time to pray for all of them. Our missionaries are very grateful that we support them with prayer as well as with finances. Join us every first Sunday of the month for our monthly prayer time. If you can not make it during this time and would like to receive a prayer sheet each month, please contact Sarah Brouwer or print a copy off the church website.

Ministry Team Training Day
Everyone who is on a Ministry Team or who does anything connected to any Ministry Team (Buildings & Grounds, Communication, Nursery, Library, Fellowship, Adult and Youth Education, Worship Planning, Small Groups, Missions & Outreach) is asked to join us

Sunday August 27 at 5:00pm

for a brief time of training. You will find a letter with more explanation in your church mailbox. Please invest the time to participate in this important aspect of our ongoing development of the ministry at Unity Church.

Golf Outing
Please join us for a fun day of golf with a potluck to follow on Sat. Aug. 12th at 3:30pm at Hawk Creek Country Club in Raymond. If you can join us, please sign up on the back table. More details to follow on the potluck. Any questions contact Natalie Vander Beek.

Community Announcements

Senior Citizens
On Friday, August 4th we plan to meet at the Fire Hall at 2:30pm. We will car-pool to Kerkhoven to the Vernell Johnson Farm to observe the new milking parlor, then it’s on to the Jimmy’s Apple Orchard for a luncheon. In the evening we will attend the Little Crow Ski Show. Cost is about $20.00 each. Also, Chanhassen dinner theater matinee “Singing in the Rain” on Wed., September 27th. Please call Ardy Zondervan if you are interested in either of these.

New Life Treatment Center Annual Donation Auction
Monday, July 31, 2006 at 6:00pm the Annual Donation Auction for New Life Treatment Center will be held in the New Life Gym in Woodstock, MN. Donations of baked goods, new or good used items, farm supplies, etc. would be appreciated. A few items already donated for the sale are: 8ft pool table; collectible coins; one-week stay at a condominium on Madeira Beach at John’s Pass on Florida’s Gulf Coast; and a blue and white cross stitched quilt, hand quilted, King Size, which has won numerous awards at area fairs. Everyone is welcome to come and join in on the bidding. The proceeds are designated for the Need for Life Fund. Barbecues, coffee, and Kool-aid will be served.

Garden Open House
Join us at Bill Dykstra’s any Friday and Saturday thru August, 10:00am until dark. If you have a group that would like a tea party in the garden during the week, give us a call. FREE WILL DONATION will go towards a SENSORY ROOM FOR CALEB ROORDA. Caleb's autism makes him highly sensory defensive. This means that all of his senses are "wired" differently than the average child. Sounds, light, touch & movement can be very over-stimulating. With sensory integration he's able to focus much
better and does much less hand flapping, pacing and other behaviors
common to autistic children. Sensory equipment is typically quite expensive and we're raising money to purchase much needed equipment.

6th Annual Old Fashioned Hymn Sing
First Covenant Church will host this annual event on Sunday, August 13, 2006. It will begin at 6:00pm in the church sanctuary with refreshments to follow the service. Once again, Chuck Gustafson will be the song leader and Don Franklin will be at the organ. Saralyn Olson will be the pianist. Christopher Franklin from Luca, Italy will be playing the violin. Rosella Franklin from Luca, Italy, will be a guest soloist. Here is a chance for people to sing many of their old favorite hymns and choruses. A large crowd is expected so come early and be prepared to sing with gusto and to God’s glory.
