"Abiding in Christ" Series

Pastor Steve will continue his 3-week series today, focusing on the theme of "Abiding in Christ".  The series is inspired by the work of Dr. Bruce Wilkenson and his book: "Secrets of the Vine", based on John 15. 

 

Congregational Meeting

Our congregational meeting will follow our morning worship service today. Topics will include the restructuring of council, the administrator position, a building/volunteer update, and a budget update.  Please grab your cookies and coffee and head back into the sanctuary.

 

Baby Congratulations

Congratulations to Dave & Laura Brouwer in the birth of their daughter, Ella Faith. Ella was born last Sunday, January 11th weighing in at 4lbs 8oz and 17 1/2 inches long.  (Born 5 weeks early). Ella has been gaining weight and strength all week and hopes to come home this coming week. Following Ella's birth Laura submitted to emergency surgery due to extensive bleeding. She was airlifted to Methodist Hospital where she has been miraculously recovering all week. Lord willing she, the baby and the family will be reunited together this coming week back home.

 

Solid Rock Youth Group Fundraiser

The Solid Rock Youth Group will be selling coupon packets for the Herberger's Community Days Sale on February 28. Just for $5 you will receive one coupon for $10 off and 4 coupons each with a savings of 20% off. 100% of the packet sales benefit Solid Rock Youth. Please contact one of the students, call Kirk or go to Herberger's if you would like to purchase a packet.

 

SNL (Sunday Night Live)

You are invited to join us every Sunday night, 7:30pm at the Rock on 8th in Willmar (1708 8th Street to the left of Willmar CRC) for Sunday Night Live! Come worship, pray, hear a short message and hang out with friends. SNL is Student Lead worship and a great opportunity to fellowship with other believers! "Kids" of all ages are welcome! Bring your friends.

2009 Day of Encouragement

All church members serving in leadership roles invited to attend "Day of Encouragement" at Dordt College Saturday February 7. The training day is billed as, "a day to inspire, encourage, and equip God's people for ministry". If you are interested in attending, please see April Swierenga or Larry Groen TODAY for an application as we will be sending in our registration tomorrow! Unity will cover the conference registration fee. Conference information and on-line registration information can also be found at Day of Encouragement.

 

Award-Winning January Series

Calvin College celebrates its 22nd year of bringing the award-winning January series for 15 weekdays in January 2009. Many people will join on campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the daily noon time lectures that will discuss topics that range from Creation and Design to AIDS and Africa, Health and Environment, Faith and Doubt, to name a few, by the top experts in their respective fields. Many others will join at over 20 live remote web cast sites nationwide! You are cordially invited to attend the live web casts at Calvary church in Edina, MN at 5300 France Ave South. Presentations start promptly at 11:30am and end promptly at 12:30pm. Attend only one, several or all of them. The series is free and no advance notice is required to attend. A schedule of dates is posted in the information rack located in the fellowship hall.

The Vreeman/Schroeder families would like to thank everyone who has been in prayer for Jon Schroeder and his family. You can check his progress and/or leave a message at his Caringbridge site.  Your prayers for healing and restoration are coveted by the family and they thank you for coming alongside as they continue to pray for a miracle and watch God mightily work in Jon's life.

 

Guest Speaker

Mission India's president, Pastor Dave Stravers will be the guest speaker at Willmar Christian Reformed church on Sunday, January 18.  We invite all with an interest in the work of Mission India to come and hear what transformations are taking place in the fastest growing nation on earth.  Pastor Stravers will be speaking at 10:00am during our morning worship time and at 5:00pm in our Fellowship Hall, preceded by a "Taste of India" light supper.  Everyone is welcome

 

Bethany Christian Services Annual Volleyball Tournament

On Saturday, January 31, 2009 Bethany Christian Services will hold its 11th Annual Volleyball Tournament at the Central Minnesota Christian School gyms in Prinsburg from 8:30am - 4:00pm. The tournament will help support the work of BCS in West Central MN, serving adoptive families and those facing unplanned pregnancies. If you'd like to register a team, visit Bethany Christian Services or call Kristina Huisinga. The registration deadline is January 23rd. We're also looking for donations, door prizes and volunteers for a variety of tasks - help out all day or part of the day. Come and cheer on the teams. We look forward to a day of fun, fellowship and great volleyball.
