Unity Family Cares and Concerns

Staffing Changes
As of July 1, Pastor Jeff begins his new contract as a full-time pastor and Pastor Wendy changes to a volunteer rather than staff, remaining available to the congregation. Please note that tax-deductible contributions can no longer be made for her support through the church at this time. This change has also been worked out with outside contributors. Pastor Jeff and Wendy both thank you deeply for your prayer and financial support over the last couple of years.

Fragrance-Free Reminder
Unity Church strives to be a scent-free facility so that we can effectively minister to all people without forcing away any who have allergies. Please be considerate when getting ready for worship on Sundays. We face a tough challenge in controlling scents because of our small worship space, so we are pleading for your help. Please refrain from using perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, hairspray, or even shampoos and soap that are scented. We do not want to alienate people from the gospel over smelling good. Let your “fragrant offerings” only be the life you live and the gifts you use. Thank you for following this policy - we appreciate it greatly.

UNITY CHURCH MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Missions Support
We give abundant thanks to the Unity Church family for its ongoing support of our Long-Term missionaries. We plead for your continued prayers for them as they labor in foreign lands for the sake of the gospel. While we do not want to reduce our support of our missionaries to just sending money, it is necessary to assist in the work they do. So far this fiscal year (through last week) we have given over $34,000 to our missionaries. Hallelujah!! Last June, we made a commitment to raise $36,300 by June 30 to send to our missionaries. We are asking for you to consider giving generously these last two weeks to ensure that our missionaries receive the funds they need and we have committed to. If you would like to help in this ministry, please designate your check to “Missions” and place it in the offering plate. Thank you for your support!

Worship at the Lake
NEXT SUNDAY ~~ 11:00AM!
Next Sunday we will gather at Kandiyohi Lake (County Park #1) for a special outdoor service and picnic celebration. Take a blanket or lawn chair with you as we celebrate God’s goodness to us in the great outdoors! A picnic lunch will be served afterwards by your elders and deacons! A special surprise for the kids will also be available during the lunch hour! It will be a great day for the whole family! See you at the lake NEXT WEEK!

Morning Worship

Message: “Learning about the Cross with Peter" (Marly Breems)
Lead Worshipers: Praise Team from The Crossing in Sioux Falls, SD
Offering: Unity Ministries
Children ages 3-preK will be dismissed by announcement for Children’s Church

Welcome to Unity!
The Lord Almighty is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, and abounding in love and faithfulness. We gather together to worship Him this day. May you truly experience his love and goodness to you.

This morning we are blessed to have a very special praise team from The Crossing in Sioux Falls, SD leading in worship as part of our celebration of Father’s Day.

Guest Preaching
This morning Pastor Jeff is preaching at Faith Christian Reformed Church in New Brighton, MN. May the Spirit give him grace, power, and freedom as he speaks from the Word to their people.

Summer Night Vision
Join us TONIGHT! 7:30pm at Prairie Meadows Elementary School in Spicer (1.5 miles west of Mel’s on County Road 10). This summer we are having a special emphasis on ministry to adults as well as the youth of the area who have a passion to worship, pray, and seek the power of God in their lives, church, and community!

Next week, we have the opportunity to welcome Jason & Melissa Versteeg to our church, as well as witnessing together the baptism of their son, Joshua. We give thanks for God’s promises made to Joshua and look forward with great joy to his journey of faith with the Lord.

Worship Grant Travel
As part of the requirements for the $11,360 worship grant we received from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Pastor Jeff and Wendy will be traveling to Grand Rapids, MI this week for the Project Development Event. They will be learning from others who have received grants so that we can launch our study and application of using worship space to communicate our theology, mission, and vision for the glory of God.

Baby Congratulations
We extend congratulations to Hubert and Marilyn Wieberdink on the birth of their grandson, Raade Lowell Gears to Jeff & Michelle.

There were some crafts that were forgotten last week at VBS. If you are missing your crafts, they will be at the First CRC Fellowship Hall in the Catechism room. Don’t forget to come and pick them up!

Thank You
Thanks to all of you who have been working outside the church building to keep our campus looking beautiful. Your gracious care in planting, weeding, watering, trimming, and paying attention to this important ministry is greatly appreciated.

Community Announcements

Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels is growing and we need more help. We are in our new kitchen this week and our numbers continued to rise during our Spring at Vinje Lutheran Church. May 2006 set a new record even though we didn't provide Saturday meals during construction. Renee Nolting had to add another route. We are now serving twice as many people as we helped 8 years ago. People are living longer, people are staying home longer, and families are spread all over the country. That's great, that's what we are here for and we LOVE our new kitchen, but we need more drivers.

We need another church to join the program and/or existing churches to add a driver each time. Here is how is works: For 32 years, thirteen local churches have split up most of the routes on a rotating basis. Each church covers two weeks six times a year, about twelve weeks each. Some churches send 5 sets of drivers, and others send 3, 2, or 1 set of drivers. Lots of the drivers are men too. It depends on the size of the church and how many volunteers they have available. Until recently, growth has been handled by area businesses and the Willmar Lakes Rotary Club. People are wonderful. But now we need more wonderful people. There are more than thirteen wonderful churches in the Willmar area.

Please pray about this opportunity for local ministry and give us a call. Talk to Renee Nolting at 235-5310 Extension 520. Its easy and its very rewarding spiritually. It takes about one hour per day, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and you will see a side of Willmar that you have probably missed. People that are living alone and need help serving from one day to the next. People with little social contact in their lives. They are grateful to see you.

Minn-ia-kota Retreat 2006
Today you will find in your church mail box a registration form for the Minn-ia-kota Retreat 2006 to be held in Sioux Falls, SD on September 12 and 13. The theme this year is “Our God Reigns”. Please note the special Men’s session. Consider taking the time to attend this year to hear some great speakers and hear what the Bible League is doing.

Morning Worship

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21 (Scripture Reader: Wendy Ulferts)
Message: "I’m Full!" (Pastor Steve)
Lead Worshipers: Bryan De Groot & Praise Team Offering: Unity Ministries

Welcome to Unity!

The Lord has done great things, and we are filled with joy! We are glad that you have come to this place to worship God. May you find blessing and joy as you give yourself to the One who gave himself for you.

This morning we welcome one of the missionaries we support. Bob Dykstra will share with us the adventures and joys of the ministry he has been doing on a Wisconsin Native Reservation. We are also recognizing the students who recently graduated.

Next week we will be blessed by a very special praise team from The Crossing in Sioux Falls, SD as part of our time of celebrating Father’s Day.

SUMMER NIGHT VISION
This summer Night Vision will continue to minister to the youth of this area, but we also have a particular interest in ministering to any adults who have a passion to worship, pray, and seek the power of God in their lives, church, and community! Join us TONIGHT!
