WORSHIP NOTES

Welcome to Unity! May our time together today in God’s presence be refreshing and encouraging for your spirit and a chorus of praise for our God and who He is!

This morning we continue our series: Building Bigger Hearts. Today we consider the obstacles and threats that hinder our hearts from growing bigger for others. Most importantly, we consider how it is that the enemy wars against our hearts but God provides His power and grace to be on our guard against those attacks.

This evening Mike Pluimer will be sharing his testimony of God’s power and grace in his life as he prepared for his recent participation in the Ironman Triathlon competition in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Mike was able to raise $83,000 for Central Minnesota Christian School, but more importantly, he was able to share his witness throughout the competition and awards banquet. This is a powerful testimony you won’t want to miss.

Next Sunday we will be celebrating the Profession of Faith, Baptism, and membership of Larry & Becky (Ninneman) Lentz and their daughter, Chloe.

WORSHIP NOTES

“You, my brothers, were called to be free … Serve one another in love. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:13 & 25

Welcome to Unity! May you find refreshment and joy for your soul as we gather together in the presence of God for worship today!

This morning we continue our series entitled: “Building Bigger Hearts”, a series of messages on relationships. Today we will give special attention to the element of SERVING in our relationships. Paul reveals the core of this element in Galatians 5: Spirit-filled love motivates service to one another. We will look at practical ways this plays out in our daily lives and how the more we engage in this effort, the greater our capacity to both love and serve those around us will become. At the conclusion of the message today, Ruth Veltkamp, our missionary to Nigeria will share a little of she serves with Spirit-filled love the peoples of Nigeria.

This evening, we are excited to have Ruth Veltkamp who will spend extended time sharing of her work with the Muslims as well as the opportunities all of us have to reach out to the Muslim community, not only through her but to those in West Central Minnesota. We look forward to seeing you this evening to hear her testimony and challenge.

You are invited to join us on Sunday July 31 at our evening worship time to hear Mike Pluimer share about his experience of preparing for and competing in the Ironman Triathlon. After hours of training, hard work, and discipline, Mike was able to complete the race and raise nearly $83,000 for the Tuition Assistance program at Central Minnesota Christian School. Come and be inspired by Mike’s testimony of how God’s grace helps us endure life’s challenges and finish strong.

ELECTRONIC MEDIA

In this age of great technological advances, we at Unity are looking at ways of communicating with the congregation and community through various media means, curbing our use of paper or other disposable resources. To that end, more and more of our communication to you and with you will come in the forms of E-MAIL (info@unitycrc.org), VIA OUR WEBSITE (www.unitycrc.org), POWERPOINT (for announcements and other notices), and other media venues as they become available. Our efforts will be to cut costs and keep people more informed. For those who do not have access to these elements, we will continue to inform you via your mailslots, the bulletin, and postal mail. Look for sign-ups, notices, and changes in the near future.

FYI: For the last six months, we have had a Worship Planning Team in place to provide review, insight, and direction to our worship services. Each week we meet to assess the previous Sunday’s services as well as plan for the upcoming Sunday, including future services, special services, and sermon series. If you have any input, ideas, or music suggestions (ministry of music, songs, etc.) please contact one of the team members: Pastor Steve, Pastor Jeff, Tom Bruin, Kerry Breems, Gina Ohden, Willis Wubben, and Sheri Pluimer.

FYI: Each week the staff meets to review pastoral care needs, plan and execute the work of administration, work on individual and team projects for the church, as well as for prayer and accountability. Each staff member has a job description and specific tasks they are responsible. These job descriptions are available online at: www.unitycrc.org. Each staff member has a cell phone, voicemail, and e-mail to provide you with ready assistance should you find yourself in need. Our staff consists of: Steve Zwart, Senior Pastor; Jeff Fisher, Pastor of Spiritual Formation; Wendy Fisher, Pastor of Congregational Life; and April Swierenga, Administrative Assistant.

FYI: Our Building and Grounds Team is organizing a list of items that need attention at the parsonage and our worship facility. The list is fairly long and your support and encouragement is needed. Would you bless them when they call on you for your assistance by saying: “Yes, what can I do to help?”

FYI: Did you know that over the last year, we have had nearly 50 different people participate in the worship service through prayer, Bible reading, worship leading, and playing of instruments?!! God has blessed us with a wide variety of talent in music! Please take a moment to thank some of these people today for their service in leading us in worship!

WORSHIP NOTES

Welcome to worship at Unity Church! We have gathered here together to celebrate and experience an authentic encounter with God. No matter where you are from, or what you have experienced this past week, God invites you to seek Him and enjoy His presence and His blessings here in this place.

Building Bigger Hearts: This morning we begin a new sermon series which looks at the keys to growing great relationships. It is designed for all kinds of relationships, whether with spouses, friends, co-workers, or family members. Each of these messages will focus on principles from God’s word that give practical steps for building healthy relationships of all kinds. Today we look at the “Heart of Forgiveness.” Jesus makes it very clear that one of the primary keys to strong, lasting relationships is the willingness and ability to forgive. It is so vitally important that our forgiveness from God actually hinges on our willingness to forgive others.

This Evening: Tonight we continue our discussion on the purpose and role of Short-Term Missions for the church. We will try to answer the question, “What is the best way to do Short-Term Missions?” Is it poor stewardship to pay so much money to send ill-prepared kids to a foreign place when that same money could do so much more by long-term missionaries? Or do Short-Term Mission trips have a lasting impact that is definitely worth any cost? How should we think about these events that we call “missions” if those who go on the trips often benefit more than those to whom they are sent? Come with your ideas and thoughts on how to make the most of Short-Term Missions trips.

WORSHIP NOTES

Welcome to worship at Unity Church! We have gathered here together to celebrate and experience an authentic encounter with God. No matter where you are from, or what you have experienced this past week, God invites you to seek Him and enjoy His presence and His blessings here in this place.

This Morning

We welcome to our pulpit today Pastor Tom Flaherty from Community Bible Church in Montevideo. He is preaching here this morning while Pastor Steve preaches in their church. His message this morning is on the role of the gifts of the Spirit in the life of the church.

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

This morning we celebrate the sacrifice, death, resurrection, ascension, reign, and coming return of Jesus Christ by taking the sacrament of Communion. Whether you are a guest or a member, you are invited to join us in receiving the bread and the cup at the Table of the Lord this morning. If you have committed your life to Jesus Christ as Lord, and recognized your need for him as Savior, and desire to connect with him in a deep personal way, then you are more than welcome to come forward to receive the elements through which God nourishes and sustains us, forgives us, and assures us that he will keep all his promises to us.

This Evening

Tonight we will join in a much-needed discussion that has been taking place recently in the broader Christian community. What is the purpose and role of short-term missions for the church? Is it poor stewardship to pay so much money to send ill-prepared kids to a foreign place when that same money could do so much more by long-term missionaries? Or do short-term mission trips have the lasting impact that many claim they do? How should we think about these events that we call “missions” if those who go on the trips benefit more than those to whom they are sent? This dialogue is currently taking place between Kurt VerBeek, a professor of Sociology at Calvin College and Robert Priest, a professor of Missions at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School through Christianity Today. We in Prinsburg, MN will enter into this discussion tonight.

WORSHIP NOTES

Welcome to Church at the Lake! We are excited that you have joined us this morning for worship. We have gathered here today to truly experience an authentic encounter with God. No matter where you are on your journey with God, we invite you to participate in worship this morning - as much or as little as you’d like. We are glad you are here and we anticipate that God will bless you this day and that he will draw you into his presence.

What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
If today you have felt the tug of God on your heart... if you’ve sensed that something is missing in your life… then it’s probably time you start looking to God for some answers. He knows you inside and out - your hurts and your joys - and he wants to give you more than you can imagine. But, as we all have to admit, we have done and continue to do things we know we shouldn’t. And because of that sin, we are separated from God, who is holy and just and cannot tolerate our apathy toward or distrust of him. In fact, he has to punish us for it. Thankfully, God sent his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment we deserved on himself by dying on the cross. He now invites us to enter into a relationship of love with him. God’s word says that to as many as receive Jesus, who believe in him, he will make them children of God and give them eternal life. If this is you today, we invite you to talk with one of our pastors - or to simply pray to God that he would forgive your sins and grant you eternal life, and he would give you the desire and ability to commit your life wholeheartedly to him.

Next Sunday: Pastor Tom Flaherty from Community Bible Church in Montevideo will be preaching next Sunday at Unity Church. Pastor Steve will be preaching at CBC. We will also be celebrating the sacrament of Communion at Unity Church.
